Where do we work and what services do we offer?
Since April 1979 NG Welfare Meyerton has rendered professional social services to all people in need, regardless of race or creed. This office served the following areas in Meyerton: Rothdene, Kookrus, Riversdal, Golfpark, Extension 6, Glen Donald, Koolfontein and part of Sicelo.
NG Welfare protects children’s rights. Persons experiencing problems such as child neglect, maltreatment, family conflict, alcohol- and drug abuse, food need as well as HIV/Aids can receive counselling and therapy here.
Services focus on the needs of the community and currently the following projects are launched to relieve poverty: * Food scheme * Clothing- and blanket project * Soup- and bread project. Approximately 178 underprivileged children each receive food at a soup kitchen every school day.
Therapeutic group work is presented for persons experiencing the same problem, for instance support group for foster parents or a parent guidance group.
However, volunteers to manage above-mentioned projects or to assist with fundraising are largely insufficient.
