Our branches
NGW has a total of 23 branches located in towns throughout the North West and Gauteng provinces with a dedicated personnel corps of 600+ people across all branches.
We address challenges such as child abuse and neglect, family conflicts, poverty, and the scourge of alcohol and drug abuse. Moreover, we aim to provide nurturing residential care for children and older persons.

Child and Family Care Offices
We have 12 child and family care offices, each a beacon of hope offering support and guidance to individual clients and families. Our social workers focus on the protection of vulnerable children and help families navigate difficulties and challenges to prevent the breaking up of family units.

Homes for the Aged
NGW has eight facilities that render extensive professional service to older persons. The staff at our Homes for the Aged focus on creating spaces where our aged residents can feel safe, cared for and respected.
Some of the Homes also have outreach programmes to the broader community, such as feeding programmes, clinic services, care services and upliftment programmes.
Our Homes offer a wide variety of accommodation options to cater to the specific needs of aged persons.
Our residential care units
24/7 basic nursing services are delivered to care-dependant and frail elderly.
Balanced meals, laundry and cleaning services are provided.
Most Homes are equipped to provide care for residents who suffer from dementia related illness.
Active ageing programmes are offered for stimulation.
Temporary care is provided for older persons recovering from illness or operations as well as for short-stay periods when family cannot provide the care themselves.
Self-catering units
Economically independent older persons are accommodated in various independent living options. Available housing varies from place to place and includes single accommodation to 2-bedroom dwelling units that can be rented or purchased with life rights.
Child & Youth Care Centres
NGW has two child and youth care centres, Abraham Kriel Children’s Home in Potchefstroom and Catherine Robson Children’s Home in Vereening, that focus on the care of children between the ages of 3 and 18 who are referred by the Children’s Court.
The goal of our welfare programs within the Child and Youth Care Centre is the optimal development of every child within their abilities. This includes the physical, emotional, educational, social, and spiritual life of the child. We reach this goal through caring, development, and therapeutic programs within our homes.
Our Child and Youth Care Centres strive to be places of refuge and transformation where our dedicated staff nurtures the potential and dreams of the children entrusted to our care.
Emanang Nokeng
Emanang Nokeng is our community outreach unit which we have in place to build brighter futures for children and families.

Life Skills Programs: Empowering Youth
- Our life skills programmes equip children and youth with essential life skills to enhance their quality of life and protect themselves against child abuse and sexual exploitation.
Support for Families: Strengthening the Foundation
- Preventive Measures: We aim to prevent statutory intervention that would lead to children being placed in alternative care.
- Nutrition and Clothing: Families from poverty-stricken areas receive support with nutrition and clothing whenever resources are available.
Parental Guidance: Building Strong Families
- Mothers’ Groups: We offer groups for mothers to enhance their parenting skills.
- Parenting skills programmes for foster parents and parents that have children with behavioural problems. Parents are empowered to help their children to grow up as well-balanced adults.
Skills Development Projects: Empowering Communities
- Art, crafts, and needlework: this project offers skills development opportunities for women from impoverished areas.
Development Resources: Empowering Communities to Empower Themselves
- Community Mobilisation: We motivate and mobilise communities to overcome their social problems.
- Volunteer Recruitment: We continuously recruit and train volunteers from different communities.
- Mentorship: Upcoming community-based organisations can seek mentorship from our staff, empowering them to function independently and sustainably.
Safe Hubs for Vulnerable Preschool Children
- The Safe Hub aims to provide a safe space for children living in high-risk circumstances. At the Safe Hub children receive basic meals and get the opportunity to take part in early childhood development programmes.
Care Packs
- We provide care packs for traumatised children and women. These packs include toiletries and other necessities.

- Protective Behaviour: A preventative life skills programme that enables people of all ages and walks of life to develop skills that promote resilience and empower them to deal with all forms of difficult, unsafe, or abusive situations.
